What is Shared Ownership?

Shared ownership gives you an easy and affordable way to buy your own home.
It’s as straightforward as the name suggests
-you buy a share of the property and pay rent on the share you don’t own.

It does not mean you have to share your home with another buyer!
By part-buying and part-renting at the same time, shared ownership means you can step on to the property ladder. You start by buying a share in your home. This is often a 25% share, but it might 50% or as high as a 75% share. You will only need a mortgage or savings for the percentage share of the home you buy at its market value.

We own the remaining share, on which you pay us an affordable rent.
The higher the share that you buy, the less rent you have to pay.
Most of our homes for sale through shared ownership allow you to buy a bigger share later on.

So, over time, you could own your home outright.
You can choose to buy an extra share in your home whenever you can afford to.

Or if you prefer, you can continue to part-buy and part-rent.
